Welcome to the October 2026 Edition of the Eternal TTRPG Jam! This is a game jam for TTRPG designers to test ideas, experiment with concepts, and maybe find their next big idea! Every month there will be a new Jam with new themes and challenges. Hosted by Rowan Sender Come join the Discord!! Follow the Jam's Tumblr Theme: Underground There are two simple interpretations of this theme: subterranean and subpopular. With the first, it brings up back to some of the basic building blocks of tabletop role playing. Dangerous undergrounds, ecology, and pulp fiction. Perhaps it is a dungeon crawl. Maybe it is a journey to the center of the Earth. I would be thinking about the ways an environment affects those that live in it and the way we tell stories about it. The other option is more sociological. What does it mean for a part of culture to be underground? What features keep it underground? A lack of exposure? Disinterest? Purposeful throttling? Underground implies a movement or community. It can't just be unpopular, there must be some fans. What kind of pressures shape the media on the periphery of culture? Optional Challenge: Hack This month, make your game a hack of another existing game. Hacks are one of the core driving forces for innovation and iteration in tabletop games. This might be a system reskin, an overhaul, or even a reworking of one or several systems. Bonus points if you go out and pick up an indie game you like and hack it.
