Do you love folklore as much as I do? Do you want to make your own? I invite you to participate in a grassroot project The Horsetail Valley Folklore Collection ! It will be a bit of an art zine, a bit of a world-building role-playing game, where we will become former and current denizens of an imaginary place – the Horsetail Valley – providing different source materials to a study group researching local folklore. They are interested in everything from spooky stories told by the fire to a lost dairy found in the attic, from sketches of monsters in the woods to children’s doodles, from photos of ancient stone circles to a wedding picture found in an antique store, from traditional costumes to touristy souvenirs, from paper models of houses to family recipes, from working songs to silly riddles. Video, sound or interactive stuff would be more tricky to incorporate, but if you’d like to include something like this, I’ll find a way! Create your own piece of the Horsetail Valley folklore to be included in the Collection! Take inspiration from real folklore, your own childhood, your imagination, and an image of a culture and community you would like to belong to. Anyone can participate no matter the level of skill or previous experience! It’s not a contest; there will be no prizes or ratings, just a collection of various sources.
