CHICAGHOUL returns once more, bringing a threat from the depths of space... Chicaghoul is a Chicago community game jam with an emphasis on horror and Halloween related games! For this jam, participants are asked to create a horror, horror themed, or Halloween related game as their entry. This year's theme is FROM THE STARS. Bring us your cosmic horror, your derelict spaceships, your unearthly organisms, your crop circles; whatever you feel is spooky and reaches out to you from the darkest reaches of the void. The theme is entirely optional and more meant to help inspire ideas for entrants, though theme IS something projects are rated on! Optional prompts are unveiled at jam start time, voted on by our Kofi supporters. Although these are both optional, we encourage participants to use one or more prompts alongside the jam theme in the spirit of both the jam and the season. At the conclusion of the jam, Indie City Games will host an in-person community reception and showcase ( RSVP required ) of all of the officially selected games submitted to the jam. Cover art by Abyssal Aquarist Animation by Loren Asher Entries should be within the horror genre or Halloween related. Gore and other more graphic content are acceptable, we just ask that any entries containing particularly sensitive elements be flagged accordingly.
